Off the Grid Adventure Race, 6am-8pm, Nitehawk Year Round Adventure Park

Off the Grid Adventure Race is a great way for new teams to be introduced to adventure racing or for experienced racers to have a fun day outdoors. Many hours have went into scouting and designing a race course that will challenge and excite all levels of racers. Racers can be assured of a well-run event that highlights the amazing Northern Alberta Terrain, all while creating an experience that will not be forgotten.

Kids bouncy castles, beer gardens, derby, and lots of family fun! The derby includes a kids power wheels heat, full size cars, compact cars, and of course TRUCKS!

Eastlink Triathlon, 7am-4pm, Eastlink Centre, 10 Knowledge Way, Grande Prairie

Join us at the Eastlink Centre on Sunday, September 9th for the second-annual Eastlink Centre Triathlon. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned triathlete, there is something for everyone. Sanctioned by the Alberta Triathlon Association, funds raised from this event will go to support local youth sport initiatives. PLEASE NOTE: All participants must have a Triathlon Alberta Membership to register for this event. A day pass may be purchased when registering for your event or you can purchase an annual membership at the Alberta Triathlon Association website.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class, 9am-1pm, The RAD Life, 10104 101 Street, Grande Prairie

Breastfeeding education leads to breastfeeding success! Get breastfeeding off to the best start by attending a Prenatal Breastfeeding Class.

This class is taught by two Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Tara-Jean Thiessen (Milky Way Lactation Services) and Lorna Hillier (Nourished by Nature Lactation Services) have many years of experience working with breastfeeding families and are very passionate about breastfeeding education.

 

Sexsmith Fire Hall Grand Opening, 6pm-8pm, 9500 97 Street, Sexsmith

We will be joined by elected officials to officially open the new Sexsmith Fire Station. In addition to the official opening ceremony, we will have numerous activities for families including: face painters, bouncy house, kids bicycle and other draws, station and apparatus tours, refreshments, and much more!

You’ll find vendors that have products specifically for babies, toddlers and pre-k children!  Admission is free but we will be accepting donations for Kev’s Kids.

Neighbourhood Day was created to encourage residents to meet neighbours, make new friends, and have fun in your community. Check your local neighbourhood association page for more information.

Friday Night NERF War, 7:30pm-10pm, A.P.E. Parkour, 12609 101 Street

The nerf-wars will run from 7:30-9pm. There will also be movies playing on site, as well as general open gym (parkour) after 9 o’clock until 10 o’clock. Cost is $20 / person. Pre-register online at apeparkour.ca .. Spots are limited to 30 participants. This is a kid friendly event, for ages 7 and up. (Some exceptions). We encourage you to bring your own gun (BYOG) and ammo, or you can use some of our Nerf guns and ammo on site. Guns are limited.

Join us at Saskatoon Island Provincial Park for the 1st Annual Saskatoon Island Fall Fair! Located just 25 minutes west of Grande Prairie.
Enjoy local performances, displays, and activities. Have your face painted, attend a craft workshop, learn about swans, and grab some delicious food at the food trucks. Woman and Wombs, 12pm, Seva Yoga Co., 9022B 108 Street

It’s that time again. We have been waiting anxiously to host another Woman&Wombs Event. This event focuses on local supports and resources while supporting woman in creating birthing choices and post baby experiences in which they feel supported and connected. There will be 30 minute Yoga put on by Seva Yoga co., 30 minute demo from Adventure physiotherapy, and 30 minute from Studio 101!!!
As well as snacks, refreshments and smoothies!!!  A one hour trade show will be set up for those to come and walk around.
